Remember when good ol’ Tommy H. called his fans, called us, the nicest, most humble fans he ever met and proudly stated our fanmail was some of the most eloquent writing he ever received? I remember that very well and I am still one of those Hiddlestoners.

What I don’t remember is the point where we became a bunch of overly sensitive morons that stopped to admire Tom Hiddleston for his work and personality and instead started bashing on his personal life choices.

It makes me sad to watch this fandom go from admiring and positive to constant ranting and bitter sarcasm. So I went quiet for a few months, not even visiting tumblr anymore because I couldn’t stand all the hate and negativity that suddenly fills my dash instead of the joy and cuteness that I got so used to, that brightened my days and always made me smile.

Please, I beg you: won’t you rather go back to that state?

There are a lot of fans like that still around, you just have to find them and unfollow the negative people.

If I might suggest myself, @evieplease  @maneth985 @writernotwaiting @cflib @ladytigrane @quoting-shakespeare-to-ducks

I know I’m missing a ton of other people, please tag yourselves, but this should get you started, @pandoraleinchen

Thanks Cat! Tagging @cheers-mrhiddleston @ancientfinnishgoddess @hiddleshoneybunny @insanely-smart @the-haven-of-fiction

@catwinchester I love tom regardless but I’m that way with everyone it really is nobody’s business we are all grown up and if you can’t conduct yourself without negativity and hate don’t be on here dragging down the ones that do..Tom is a grown up he doesn’t need anyone to make his decisions for him..and he is amazing. …need I remind everyone? Lol @prplprincez @beaglebitch @ancientfinnishgoddess @frenchfrostpudding @loricameback @i-wanna-be-toms-body-pillow @the-haven-of-fiction @bluegrasscontessa

The hiddleston fandom has always been divided. Its just more blatant now. The same people that were jerks before, remain jerks. They’re just better at masking it in superiority.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I just wish people would enjoy instead of be hateful.

*waves* I’m still here! And you can enjoy two blogs: this one and @SincereJester , depending on your level of interest [or rating, I suppose… 😉 ]

Just a lil’ reminder about Hiddleswift on my blog…

…it ain’t here.

I won’t post pap pics on my blog [if I can prevent it], or even go into Tom and Taylor’s relationship. Why? Because it ain’t any of my business, that’s private and will remain so until either or both of them choose to share it with us publicly, if ever. Besides, ain’t nobody askin’ my opinion, anyway.

That’s not to say I don’t have one; I do. But I’ve been disgusted with this intrusive side of celebrity and fame and its effect on fandom long before these two showed up on social media, so, yeah, I’m gonna go back to lovin’ on T W Hiddles for his amazing work, his charming personality and the wonderful sexual expression he inspires on my blog.

That being said, you will find issues concerning fandom, good, bad and ugly, on this blog and my mainstream one, @sincerejester . Why? Because I’m one of the idiots who lives in it. I’m a fan, a Hiddlestoner, a Tomslore, call-it-what-you-will, but most of all, I am a fan of fandom. Fandom is powerful; I’ve seen it in action, and don’t let anyone deny that words are just as powerful. Be careful with them, be kind to each other and ourselves, and let’s just enjoy it again.

I’m gonna lose some followers because I seem to be in the minority on this but I really want to voice my opinion on the Jag debacle.

I’m not mad at Jaguar.

I think they are brilliant.

I actually like feeling a little played. It makes me feel kinda dirty. Honestly, the whole thing is kinda…

^^THIS!!! OMFG

hiddlesherethereeverywhere

, I feel the exact same way!!! I’m sosososososo impressed them right now, so much that I want to go out & buy a Jag lol! So fucking brilliant. They never actually said Mr. Hiddleston was going to be in the ad. They just let everyone’s imagination run wild. Bravo, Jag team. You guys are evil geniuses & I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.

I can’t even be forreal mad at them either. Now that I reread their tweets, they never said he was gonna actually be *in* it… Just about who will be joining him. And we ate it right out of their hands. Cheeky bastards.

So cheeky. And they never @ mentioned Tom either which is kinda suspect if he were really to be involved. I was just so into the idea of more Jag!Tom (because let’s be honest I wrote a multi part fic about him because I LOVE Dom Jag Tom) that I didn’t even care hahaha

I, too, love my Jaguar!Tom and was looking forward to some new inspiration/frustration. But now I’m left picturing the CEO stroking his cat as he scrolls down his Twitter feed… Evil laughter echoing around his dark office. Great imagery for the whole “villain” front.

Honestly, good game Jaguar. Good fuuuuucking game. We alll literally fell for it. I mean that’s just brill! Just one mention of Tom and we all went ballistic! But I love that they now have a Quartermaster and its Hoult (tho I think he’s more goodie than baddie).

Oh, it was quite clever of them, and yes, I love the ad they did with Hoult. That’s not what I’m upset about. What bothers me is the blatant use of Tom’s tag in teasing it, targeting directly to his fanbase, without actually having him in the ad. There was no reason for that—the ad could have included his character, even in passing—and I found it to be exploitative. It created a lot of unneeded disappointment and negative feelings for some fans.

And it’s sad that you’d lose followers just for having a not-as-negative reaction…We’re all fans; we don’t have to agree on everything or even be affected by these things the same way. I’m kinda glad we aren’t all the same; that’s one of Fandom’s strengths, I feel.

Trust our rage; fandom is powerful.

Having thought about the Jaguar thing at the grocery store, here’s the thing.

I feel stupid.  I feel ridiculous for getting excited.  I feel like I should have known better, I should have seen through it.  I feel so stupid for the excited things I posted this morning.

Because now you all will think I’m a fucking idiot.  For getting excited.  For playing into it.  For not seeing through it.  For being gullible.

That’s why we as fans are so outraged, darling. Our enthusiasm for anything concerning our adored Tom was exploited by this corporation for their commercial and media gain. It was calculated. And that’s not how a corporation should treat the celebrities they hire and those celebrities’ fan bases.

Their job is advertise and sell cars. So they hire actors like Tom to appear in their ads and design an ad campaign that will generate a lot of buzz and get their brand out there. When they go out of the way to tease an ad to the actor’s fan base with his name to generate more publicity–a very targeted effort specifically aimed at the fans–and then have not a single part of that ad have him in it–well, the result is some of us feeling exactly as you expressed above. And that’s not right. We should NEVER feel bad for being fans, ever. We’re not guilty for wanting every little moment we can get from our star; we’re not gullible or stupid. But we have been exploited, Tom has been exploited, and that’s not acceptable.

As fans, darling, we understand and don’t think any less of you. What angers me is that this has caused you to feel that about yourself, and that’s not what fandom should ever be. I’m certain that someone like Tom would never want one of his fans to feel that way because of something he’s associated with, and why we need to call this kind of exploitation out when it happens. Fandom is powerful, darling; one of the things I was happy about was knowing that we were all online together, excited about this, and that we’ll have other, more positive chances again…and that we can support each other and have a real impact on fandom in general when things like this happen.

No.

I’m not going to be all diplomatic. I’m not going to be all “yes we were teased but that’s ok!”
“Brilliant marketing strategy!”
“Ohhh, good one Jaguar!”

I’m pissed

I’m allowed to be angry

You can’t dictate my emotions

Awh! That’s fucking cold! So no Tom at all this round?

Well Jaguar we all know what this means snakes bites you once shame on the snake bet that shit won.t work again! I’m outraged!

It’s not that I’m upset over the sneaky lil’ stunt they pulled [although I am.] It’s that they exploited Tom’s name to get the attention, knowing full well that his fan base would generate the buzz. Not cool. Not acceptable. Have some respect for the actor and his fans and don’t be such self-aggrandizing assholes.

Yeah, yeah, I get the whole ‘but we’re villains, bwahahha, it’s so good to be bad’ angle…but that’s not being a fictional film villain, it’s being a poor publicist, frankly: You just alienated the very resource you used to promote your product. Not wise. It makes this fan wonder if you simply didn’t want to pay my beloved actor to appear in another ad, but knew you could get the attention by deliberately misleading his fanbase into doing your advertising for you. Shame, shame!

I hope Tom [and other actors, too–I feel terribly sorry for Nicholas in all this, since it was a lovely performance–] will take a long hard look at this kind of fan exploitation and consider what they want to lend their names to in the future.

There’s good advertising and there’s bad advertising…So I ask you, Jaguar: was it good to be bad?

No.
