I’ve heard a lot from some fans complaining that this whole uproar detracts from Tom’s excellent acting, reducing him to eye candy. I call bullshit! We all admire Tom for more than his ah, physical assets, but this is about American censorship and our double standard toward nudity and sexual content in our media. AMC played up the sexy content and then edited it out [don’t buy the whole ‘whoops, wrong tape’ cover-up, either…] Tom has been very verbal about the media’s sexist bias against female sexuality and male nudity and how he’s fighting against it. I noticed people didn’t scream half as loud about the censorship of Corky groping Pine at the restaurant; why is that, I wonder, hmmm?
