My response to notpedeka for writing Loki

nightmareofcat:

This is my response to @notpedeka and her burning
questions. This is my view and my backstory for the Loki I portray. All
opinions expressed are my own and in no way to be construed as cannon, Loki’s
life is a mystery that we solve for ourselves.

1.)  Yes, he was presented as a son of Odin out of
Frigga. It wasn’t uncommon for Queens or Princesses to join their husbands/betrothed
in camp before or after battles as a sign of unity and comfort. None of the
sources available say if this was the case for Frigga or not but if it is, then
it could be a reason for Loki’s existence. If she was with Odin at any of the
battles with the Frost Giants, it gives them leeway to explain a pregnancy.
Frigga is the Queen, she would not have to explain anything to anyone about how
or why she suddenly has an infant. Healers or handmaidens close to the Royal
family can easily be sworn to secrecy.

Another option: If she was indeed left on
Asgard, more than likely she would only have to handle minor audiences with
nobility and more than likely be hidden away in her chambers hoping for the
safe return of her husband and also caring for a young Thor. Her gift of
foresight could have shown her Odin returning with an infant and thus allow her
to prepare accordingly, perhaps this could also be a reason that Odin even
considered taking Loki in the first place. Using that reasoning, it explains
how they knew an abandoned infant in a frozen temple could possibly belong to
Laufey.

Here is my take on it: Odin has the ability
to travel without the Bi-Frost, he slips away after battle to return to Asgard
and Frigga where he gives her infant Loki. None of the returning warriors would
do so right away, it can take days to months to even years to return an army
home. Treaties are signed, the dead are gathered and returned home, resources
are distributed, taking weeks to do. In this time, Frigga has fabricated the
story that she was pregnant during the campaign, didn’t show during said
pregnancy and gave birth prematurely. Thor would have been too young to know
any better, all he would know is he has a baby brother. Odin returns home victorious
and announces joyously that Frigga had bore him another son but because of
complications they didn’t announce it to the realm for fear of raising the
peoples hopes. All of her handmaidens were sworn to secrecy and the Queens’ personal
physician told to confirm their story.

1.)
Instinctual magic would have made sure that his
form stayed Asgardian whenever he was in contact with one of them, being
exclusively raised by Frigga and constantly around Thor would have insured it
as such. The personal physician to the Royals could be trusted to ensure young
Loki stayed healthy and his secret kept. Frigga first taught him to use his
magic so yes he might have had a tutor to hone some skills but once again, he
was raised almost exclusively by the Queen and away from the prying eyes of
court and sorcerer alike.

As the second born, he was never truly
expected to take the throne. Thor was born and raised to rule and war like his
father, Loki was taught the art of politics and strategy to ensure he could
give the sound advice his station would require as the crowned prince advisor,
as is the case in many ancient cultures. In this regard, no one would have
cause to point out how differently he was treated. Besides; who does a noble or
commoner think they are for telling the Royal family how to raise their son?
They answer to no one but themselves.

2.)
Odin could easily have hidden his presence form
Heimdall when he returned home. My assumption would be that Heimdall knew but
him being the good little gate keeper he is, obliged his oath to the All-Father
and told no one, of course he would give an innocent child the benefit of the
doubt but Loki’s penchant for mischief caused his fall from the Watchers’ good
graces.

3.)
If the infant was left right after his birth,
the only ones that would have known would be Laufey, his mate and whoever
delivered him. For all we know Laufey didn’t know his mate had given birth
because he was busy in the battlefield and once the baby was born and
discovered to be a runt, it was taken to be disposed of in their place of
worship. My thought on it is the latter, Laufey didn’t know of Loki’s birth and
assumed the child had perished while still inside his mother because of the
stress of war.

4.)
See my answer in number one. Odin returned in
secret before the rest of his army to deliver the infant to Frigga.

5.)
Only a few people would have known of Loki’s
existence before Odin announced he had another son, none of them would have had
need to know his true origins. The child could have been from another of Odin’s
dalliances with a low born or noble or a secret pregnancy with Frigga, it was
none of their business. All they needed to know was there was another prince.
Once Loki found out he could have questioned any of them living and asking if
they knew of his parentage.

I go with secret, difficult pregnancy.

6.)
While he could of easily been passed off to
another family, Frigga wouldn’t have allowed it but a bigger reason; Odin
knowing who his sire was and keeping him for political gain. This makes the
most sense. Almost all kingdoms would forge an alliance with a royal wedding
but how many would forge a path based on marrying the 8
th cousin of
the king on the mother’s side? None, but if Loki was raised as a prince and
possible successor, it makes him a very appealing target for a political fodder
and royal gain.

7.)
See Thor was raised for rule and war, as much as
he claimed to have changed during his exile, even a good man makes bad
decisions. Similar to how abuse victims can still say they love their abuser no
matter how much damage was done. Yes I say I can say this as a victim of abuse
myself, if you think otherwise you can message me privately. Thor claims Odin
is a wonderful father because he has no other reference to judge, he was
favored and given every opportunity, he had no reason to think otherwise even
after the truth came out. It’s easier for a child to believe a parent than
believe a brother whom you think is throwing a tantrum for attention. I believe
that no matter what Thor will always go back to the arms of his father even if
his brother shows him undeniable proof that Odin is a bigger monster than he
is. Thor goes after his brother because of love and the hope that his brother
and his father can be the family he thought they always were.

8.)
At no point was Loki’s parentage revealed to the
public, so why would they be upset? All the Asgardians and the rest of the Nine
knew was that Loki was a disgraced former prince full of jealousy and
unjustified rage. Thor would have had to be informed of Loki’s parentage, they
can claim Loki was adopted but in no realm would it be a good idea to admit
that he is a Frost Giant, he would have been hunted more than ever before as a
universally hated species.

Another case of what the public doesn’t know
won’t hurt them.

If you want to discuss or have more questions
about my views of Loki and his life, feel free to message me, I’ll be more than
happy to have a discussion.

//This is important because it proves that The Other can hear everything Loki is saying based on some kind of telepathic connection that The Other is maintaining over the distance of whole dimensions.  Which means it qualifies literally everything Loki says in Avengers Assemble to anyone else.

#yes#okay#loki is being monitored the entire time#which is why when people are always like#‘why didn’t he take thor’s offer?!’#i always wince#he’s on speakerphone so he fucking can’t (via opalescentnanomachines)

Hey guys?

Heat Exhaustion Symptoms

  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps
  • Nausea
  • Pale skin
  • Profuse sweating
  • Sunken, dark eyes from dehydration

Do I need to remind you what he looked like during this entire scene?

image

He’s sweaty, his blood circulation isn’t working well due to vasoconstriction (namely, look at how pale his lips are,) and he’s got dark, sunken in eyes.  Now we’ve got a point in which he trips and almost falls for some inexplicable reason.  Well, let me ask you this.

How do you torture a frost giant?

With heat.

Whedon wouldn’t just put in clips like this for no reason.  He’s trying to show us something.  The Loki we see here in this scene is not a healthy Loki, it’s a Loki who is weak and pale and probably focused on just staying conscious—a Loki who has probably been tortured by Thanos into submission and then sent out to do his dirty work for him, that way Thanos will never get the blame.  Loki is just the puppet in the grand master scheme of things.  Thanos is using him.

The Loki we see in Thor is radically different from the Loki we see in The Avengers.  Sure, post-Thor, Loki is emotionally unstable, and maybe a little nuts, but he wasn’t a murderer.  The only reason he went after Jotunheim is because he was having identity issues.  Murder wasn’t something that was normal in his repertoire, yet we see him doing it frequently in The Avengers. The Loki we see at the end of Thor doesn’t want to live, let alone take over an entire realm that he had no interest in before. Something drastic must have happened between the two movies to have made Loki have such a huge character change.

It’s said that Thanos caught/rescued Loki after he fell from the Bifrost.  Well, what did he do after that?  Thanos is known for having telepathic powers, and since he had to have caught Loki knowing who he was and how strong he was, he likely broke into Loki’s mind to find out all of his fears and weaknesses.  And once he found out all of Loki’s darkest secrets, it was easy to break him.  He and the Chitauri took the Loki we saw in Thor and tortured and corrupted him until he was warped into their own personal demigod, ready to do their bidding.  Why do you think Loki spouts off all these quotes about how “Freedom is life’s great lie,” and “In the end, you will always kneel”?  He’s projecting.

So, when he trips?  That’s the aftershocks of torture.  That’s a Loki, weakened and struggling to stay upright, pushing forward through the pain because, otherwise?

“You will long for something as sweet as pain.”

He has to keep going because the alternative isn’t a question.

Reblogging this photoset again because OH MY WORD LOKI NO.

*sniff* no loki. (Very good insight! I take this as cannon now)

This breaks my heart. How could anyone do that to him? This sweet face?

annedeadly said about your post ‘Loki Laufeyson | Deleted scenes’ :

I read a headcanon a while back that they tortured Loki with heat on
that time period, based upon how his physical appearance looked in the
beginning of Avengers.  It was heartbreaking

image

You know, when we see how he is at the beginning of The Avengers. He can no longer walk. Poor Loki. :’/

image

And his hair is like burned after Thor.

And his eyes look tear-stained.
