The brainchild of British entrepreneur Bianca Miller, Nubian Skin raised money on Indiegogo and launched online and in Europe last September. It took until this July for the line to reach the U.S., when Nordstrom finally introduced the brown bras and underwear to its shelves. While a marketing rep for the company wouldn’t release sales numbers, her quote to Mic was very encouraging.

When did they say this? Do you have a link? Because I literally just talked with the designer/founder Ade Hassan and I know she’s working on size extensions. The brand is less than a year old and pattern grading takes time (a LOT of time…I don’t think most people know how difficult bra sizing is).
I wasnt going to add anything but it breaks my heart how fast fashion has conditioned people to believe everything should be exactly what they want, when they want it, for less than $20. I support thelingerieaddict so hard for dispelling these myths that hurt small designers, businesses, and society at large.
Stores like H&M and Forever 21 teach us that clothes are disposable, overly trendy, and cheap. In reality, if you want higher quality items and if you want to support small businesses/brands, do your research and understand the pricing/availability. Tumblr posts like the one above, made quickly and without much thought, go viral and hurt Nubian Skin through ignorance. If one was truly concerned with the availability of “nude” lingerie for women of color, they would not only have been aware of Nubian Skin before they got picked up by Nordstrom, but also would have looked into statements made by the brand itself, and would have taken note of the progression it has made so far and has promised to make as soon as possible.
A quick google search of “Nubian Skin plus sizes” revealed several statements from Ade saying that they are working on expanding sizes beyond the D/E cups/XL panties. On their facebook page, after searching for “size”, there was this comment from just a few weeks ago:
